The Takeovers Panel (the Panel) has today published the reasons for its decisions in relation to an application from Sedimentary Holdings Ltd dated 14 August 2006 (TP06/72).

The Takeovers Panel advises that it has considered the application (Application) by Aztec Resources Limited (Aztec) in relation to the off-market scrip takeover bid for Aztec by Mount Gibson Iron Limited (Mount Gibson) (see TP06/75).

The Takeovers Panel advises that it has made final orders in response to the application dated 21 August 2006 from Australian Pipeline Limited (in its capacity as responsible entity of Australian Pipeline Trust) and Australian Pipeline Trust (together APT) under sections 656A and 657C of the Corporations Act in relation to the acquisitions of APT units by Alinta Limited on and from 16 August 2006 (Acquisitions).

The Takeovers Panel welcomed the announcement today by the Treasurer, the Hon Peter Costello MP, releasing the draft Corporations Amendment (Takeovers) Bill 2006 for public exposure.

The Takeovers Panel advises that it has received an application dated 5 September 2006 from Alinta Limited, for review of the decision made by the sitting Panel in the Australian Pipeline Trust 01 proceedings.

The Takeovers Panel advises that it has made a declaration of unacceptable circumstances in relation to acquisitions of 10.25% of the units in Australian Pipeline Trust (APT) by Alinta in the period on and from 16 August 2006 (TP 06/74).

The Takeovers Panel advises that it has consented to withdrawal of the application dated 25 May 2006 (TP06/56) by Mr Berend Hoff i.e. the Tower 01 proceedings.

The Takeovers Panel advises that it has consented to withdrawal of the application dated 1 August 2006 (TP06/70) by Tower Software Engineering Pty Ltd i.e. the Tower 02 proceedings.

The Takeovers Panel advises that it has today made interim orders in response to the application dated 21 August 2006 from Australian Pipeline Limited (in its capacity as responsible entity of Australian Pipeline Trust) and Australian Pipeline Trust (together APT) under sections 656A and 657C of the Corporations Act in relation to the acquisitions of APT units by Alinta Limited on and from 16 August 2006.

The Takeovers Panel advises that it has made a declaration of unacceptable circumstances and final orders in relation to an application dated 3 July 2006 from Orion Telecommunications Limited (Orion) in relation to acquisitions of shares in Orion by TelEurope Ltd and various associates (TelEurope), and Lewis Securities Ltd and various associates (Lewis Associates). The Panel published a Media Release in relation to the application on 4 July 2006 (TP06/64).
