The Takeovers Panel notes the recent announcement by the Treasurer of the reappointment of 5 members and the appointment of 5 new members to the Panel, for terms of 3 years up to and including 29 April 2018.
The President of the Panel, Ms Vickki McFadden, welcomed the new members.
“The Panel is grateful to its members for contributing their time and expertise when sitting on matters and developing policy. In particular, my thanks go to those members whose terms are finishing. They have each made a significant contribution to the work of the Panel” Ms McFadden said.
The Panel now has 38 members, all of whom are appointed on a part-time basis. Details of the appointments are attached.

New Appointments
The following new members were appointed:
Mr Alex Cartel
Mr Cartel is Managing Director, Mergers and Acquisitions, Head of Melbourne Corporate Finance and Head of Australian Energy, Oil and Gas at Deutsche Bank AG. He has over 20 years’ experience in mergers and acquisitions advisory.
Ms Tracey Horton
Ms Horton is an experienced company director and has over 20 years’ experience in senior management roles. She is currently non-executive director of SKILLED Group, Navitas and Automotive Holdings Group.
Mr Jeremy Leibler
Mr Leibler is a partner at Arnold Bloch Leibler practising in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate and securities law and specialising in public takeover matters.
Mr Tony Osmond
Mr Osmond is Head of Corporate and Investment Banking for Australia and New Zealand at Citibank. He has over 20 years’ experience in large and complex mergers, acquisitions and capital markets transactions for Australia's largest companies. He was a Panel member from 2011 to 2014.
Ms Sharon Warburton
Ms Warburton is Executive Director, Strategy and Finance at Brookfield Multiplex and has previously held senior finance roles at Citigroup and Rio Tinto. She is a non-executive director of Fortescue Metals Group and is a chartered accountant.
