Replacement Panel Counsel

Release number

TP03/068

The Takeovers Panel is pleased to announce that it has selected Mr. Jeremy Kriewaldt, currently special counsel to Blake Dawson Waldron in Sydney, to fill the role of replacement Counsel while the Panel's current Counsel, Mr. George Durbridge, takes on the role of Director of the Panel Executive for 12 months.

Jeremy is well known to many members of the Australian corporate law community and the takeovers market, having worked in Blake Dawson Waldron's mergers and acquisitions area since 1986, becoming a partner in 1990. Jeremy has a number of publications in the area to his credit. He has been cited as a leading mergers and acquisitions lawyer in surveys and ratings of Australian lawyers.

As well as his very broad and deep experience in mergers and acquisitions in general in Australia and overseas, Jeremy has been involved in a number of Panel matters over the past three years, which have given him a very good insight into Panel processes and procedures. We believe that this experience will assist the Panel and its Executive in better understanding the nature of Panel proceedings from a practitioner's perspective.

Jeremy will initially spend part of his week in Sydney and part in Melbourne, relocating to Melbourne later this year.

The Panel is very pleased that it has as experienced and capable a person as George Durbridge to move into the role of Director of the Panel Executive.

The Panel looks forward to a very productive year with Jeremy Kriewaldt as Counsel and George Durbridge as Director.
