The Takeovers Panel welcomes the re-appointment of the following members:
- Mr Simon McKeon, Macquarie Bank, President of the Panel
- Ms Meredith Hellicar, Company Director, Sydney
- Ms Alice McCleary, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Adelaide
- Mr Simon Mordant, Caliburn Partnership, Sydney
- Ms Fiona Roche, Estates Development Co, Perth
- Mrs. Nerolie Withnall, Consultant , Brisbane
The President, Simon McKeon, said he was delighted to continue his role with the Panel and welcomed the reappointment of his fellow Panel members. He acknowledged the work of all of the Panel's members, including the time they spent as a Panel working to ensure that the Panel's decisions continue to be consistent.
Mr McKeon emphasised the Panel's commitment to the Eggleston Principles and its role in providing timely and cost effective, commercial decisions. He said that the Panel's past two years in its new role had been very successful and he intended to work with his fellow Panel members to ensure the Panel continues to provide timely and commercial resolution of takeovers disputes.
- Ms Celia Searle - Mr McKeon also said that he was very pleased to welcome Ms Celia Searle, from the Perth Bar, as a new member to the Takeovers Panel. Ms Searle's appointment will widen the Panel's legal expertise and representation from Western Australia. Ms Searle has had extensive experience in commercial and corporate law in leading Western Australian commercial law firms. She joined Wickham Chambers in Perth in 1999 where she has specialised in complex corporate and commercial matters.
The appointments were made by the Governor-General on Wednesday 27 March for a period of three years commencing on 31 March 2002, on the recommendation of the Parliamentary Secretary Assisting the Treasurer, Senator Campbell. The members are appointed on a part-time basis.
